Although team India is out of Asia Cup 2022, it has managed to end the stint on a good note, handing over a massive defeat to Afghanistan in its last Super 4 game. Not only achieving multiple feats as a unit, but some individual records have made the win even more memorable.
Virat Kohli, who last scored an international hundred back in 2019 versus Bangladesh in a Test match, has finally escaped the jinx. After waiting for 1020 days, the ex-Indian captain has smashed a ton in the Pak vs Afg match of the T20 Asia Cup 2022. It brings Kohli’s 71st international century as the 33-year-old celebrated in a special manner.

Social media flooded with posts for Kohli, who has finally bounced back to his original form. Despite his struggles to slam a hundred, he was striving to score some decent runs. The former captain was the only batter to average above 50 across all formats, but his Test average dropped to 49.5. Before his t20I average would have preceded 50, he made sure to make full use of Asia Cup 2022.
Kohli is now the top run-maker in this year’s event, amassing 276 runs at an average of 92 from five matches. He has surpassed Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who has 212 runs to his name from four matches at an average of 70.67.
Where Kohli’s tenure in the Asia Cup 2022 ends, Rizwan has two more chances to regain the spot as Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka twice in their final Super 4 match and the grand finale respectively.
