Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team has kick-started their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a winning note. Bismah Maroof and co defeated Malaysia in their opening encounter. After opting to bowl first on winning the toss, they conceded a target of 58 runs as the bowlers showcased brilliancy while grabbing the scalps.
Omaima Sohail inspired with a three-wicket haul and yielded only 19 runs, dispatching three overs, in a low-scoring thriller. Tuba Hasan certainly was one of the stars of the show as she picked two wickets and conceded only 14 runs from all her overs. The next was Diana Baig, who gave away six runs in three overs and took a wicket as well. Sadia Iqbal, who grasped a single wicket, conceded only eight runs in four overs.
As far as Malaysian batters are concerned, Elsa Hunter reminded the top-scorer with 29 runs from 51 balls. The women totally could total only 57 runs on the scorecard. Visibly, it was the most leisurely chase to run after, and Pakistan Women reached the feat even before ten overs. They spared complete 11 overs and coiled up the game splendidly on the loss of a single scalp.
Openers Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen put a solid start to the inning, scoring 21 off 23 and 31 off 23 sequentially. After Ameen fell, skipper Bismah Maroof joined Muneeba to complete the remaining runs that came off the next eight balls. The women in green cheered to celebrate the thrilling nine-wicket win over Malaysia in their opener of the event.
Off to a winning start 👏
