As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, the cricketer stated,

“I spoke to [BCB president Nazmul Hassan] Papon Bhai for the last two days when we planned the entire year. I am available for all three formats. The board will decide when to give me rest, which includes the South Africa series. I am available for the SA series,”

“Shakib is available for all the formats for the South Africa tour. He will travel to South Africa tomorrow. If he skips a match in this series, please accept it. He wants to play. That is the most important thing,”

Nazmul further stated the BCB is soft on those who present legit matters but do not on and off come and goes. Despite whatever happened, Hasan has been named in the all-format contract released by the BCB for the calendar year 2022. The board named the 21-player centrally contracted cricketers on Friday including Shakib’s name in it for all three formats. However, according to BCB rules, a player, despite being given a contract, will only be paid during his unavailability if there is a serious injury.
