Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has expressed dissatisfaction with his performance in the ongoing IPL 2024 while donning the Gujarat Titans jersey. Known for his prowess in picking up wickets, he has struggled to replicate last season’s success.

In IPL 2023, he emerged as the third-highest wicket-taker with 27 wickets from 17 innings, pocketing an economy rate of 8.23. However, in the ongoing season, the spinner has managed to secure only six wickets from six matches, averaging over 31 runs.

Talking about his performance in the current, Rashid acknowledged the challenges he encountered after returning from surgery in the initial games. However, he expressed satisfaction with his current form, stressing upon the importance of adding to the team’s success in any way possible.

“In the first three games, I struggled a bit coming after the surgery; it wasn’t easy to get back to my own rhythm. I am so happy in the last two to three games, I have played how my body allowed me to enjoy my bowling and I am quite happy with that. Wicket wise, I am not happy with that but that is what T20 cricket is all about,” Rashid said as quoted by Rediff.com.

Despite his lower wicket tally, the Afghanistan bowler remains determined to playing a crucial role in changing the momentum of the game and aims to improve his performance in the upcoming matches of the tournament.

“Sometimes you need to play a little role, which helps the team to win the game and I am trying my best to play that little role. In any part where I can change the momentum of the game, I try my best. I will do my best to take more wickets in the last eight games,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans, under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, clinched the IPL title in 2022 by defeating the Rajasthan Royals. However, Pandya is now back with the Mumbai Indians for the current season.

As the tournament progresses, Rashid Khan will be determined to rediscover his form and play a pivotal role in guiding his team to success once again.
