Mohsin Naqvi, the recently elected chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the board’s selection committee will no longer have a chairperson. On Sunday morning, Wahab Riaz-led selection committee was dismissed as Naqvi formed the new committee.
Wahab is now one of the seven members of the newly formed selection committee, the board confirmed in a conference on Sunday. Naqvi revealed that all members will have equal powers. He added that the decision backed by most committee members will be taken.
In a press conference, Naqvi stated,
“We have reorganised this selection committee, this [selection committee] will consist of seven members, but what is different this time is there will be no chairman selection committee, each member would have the same power as the other one,”

He added,
“The decision would be [decided] on the majority, they should debate, and talk amongst themselves so a better conclusion can be reached. The previous structure of the committee was different, but this one, I assure you every member was chosen after considering multiple factors.”
It is pertinent to mention that the newly formed selection committee will comprise former cricketers like Mohammad Yousuf, Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq and Asad Shafiq. Moreover, Naqvi confirmed that he will have no role in finalizing the teams, and this decision will solely lay on the committee members.
“This committee will decide every single decision from now on. They are our key players in the management who will make decisions and I am sure that they will give good results,” said the PCB chairman.
“The chairman should have no role in the selection process, we are the management and our job is to manage the team. I am hopeful that these new members will give you positive results.”
