Multiple franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) own teams in the newly-launched UAE T20 league and CSA T20 league. Mumbai Indians, one of the ten IPL franchises, have revealed the names of the franchises they have bought in UAE and South African tournaments.
MI’s team in the CSA T20 league is MI Cape Town, whereas, in the UAE T20 league, it is the MI Emirates. The teams will don iconic blue and gold jerseys in the upcoming leagues.
IPL, the world’s cash-rich league, after being the most successful T20 competition in the world within 15 years, is making headlines for investing hefty amounts to own teams in different T20 competitions across the world. MI, the five-time IPL winner, is one of the teams to have acquired teams in UAE’s ILT20 and South African T20 leagues.
Both the teams in newly-launched competitions will have ‘MI’ in their names, making it easy to judge that it is owned by Indians. Nita Ambani, who is the Director of Reliance Industries, has expressed her happiness over the big success. Her statements read,
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome ‘MI Emirates’ & ‘MI Cape Town’, the newest additions to our #Onefamily. For us, MI goes beyond cricket. It embodies the ability to dream, be fearless and foster a positive attitude in life. I am sure that both the MI Emirates and MI Cape Town will embrace the same ethos and take MI’s global cricket legacy to even greater heights,”
Reliance Industries, no doubt, are one of the leading businesses in the world. Growing rapidly in the sports arena, they are looking forward to owning multiple sports teams all over the world and in India.
