Cape Cobras beat Warriors by 24 runs
Right then! That is it from this game as the Cobras finally found the winning formula while the Warriors still search for one. The action in the CSA T20 Challenge will continue as game 10 is round the corner where the Highveld Lions take on the Knights. The action begins at 1430 local (1230 GMT). Till then take care and cheers.
Victorious Cape Cobras skipper, Tony de Zorzi says that the wides have been frustrating but adds that the guys are aware about it. Hopes to be better in their next game. Tells that having spinners like Manack and Linde is great as they are trying to get wickets all the time.
For his string performance overall, George Linde is both the Batter of the game as well as the Bowler of the game. Linde says that they had a good start and set the platform for him to go out and do his thing. Linde smiles and says he had to look after himself in the first game and is happy to perform for his side. Linde says he has been working on bowling with the new ball. Linde tells when he is looking to spin the ball he bowls slow and is trying to change his pace.
Earlier after being put in to bat, the Cobras finished with a total of 181 in their 20 overs. It was Zubayr Hamza and George Linde's effort with the bat. Hamza scored 57 runs while Linde managed to score 48 off just 20 balls. Further, contributions from Kyle Verreynne and Christiaan Jonker helped them post a winning total. With the ball for the Warriors, it was Nortje who ended with two wickets as the others failed to keep the Cobras' batsmen in check. In the end, Ayabulela Gqamane's 26 runs in the 17th over proved to be the decisive one as the Warriors ended with a loss. Stay tuned to find out who is the Batsmen of the match and Bowler of the match.
With the ball, Imran Manack started the Warriors downfall with a wicket in his very first over. He then came back in his second cover to snare another wicket. After that, it was the George Linde show. First, he did with the bat and then with the ball as he picked up 4 wickets. The other bowlers too did well as Savage and Nyaku too had a wicket to their name. The only thing that was a problem for them was that they conceded a lot of extras.
Chasing a total of 180 needs some sanity and stability which was not seen from the Warriors. Their batsmen failed to stick around and try and build partnerships. They came and went failing to pick the spin of Linde and Manack. When they did find some sanity with their batting when Nortje and Jansen stitched a 67-run stand, by then it was too late. Though they did well to not concede a bonus point to the Cobras but could not help themselves to a win. Marco Jansen who will be featuring in the Indian T20 League in the 2021 edition showed his talent with the bat too as he scored a well made 48 runs but the task looked too much for him to as he departed in the final over to fold up Warriors' efforts.
What a game for the Cobras as they finally break the rut and get a win after three consecutive losses. They would be feeling much relieved and happy to get the monkey off their backs.

OUT! CAUGHT! Jansen cannot do it as the mountain was too tall to scale and Cape Cobras get their first win of the tournament. End of a fantastic knock from Marco Jansen! He came in when there was no hope at all but he has played a superb knock, a knock which gave them a little ray of hope. Full toss on middle, Jansen looks to tonk it over mid-wicket. He does not get it off the middle and ends up finding Calvin Savage at deep mid-wicket. He takes a simple catch. CAPE COBRAS WIN!

SIX! There is hope after all. Can Jansen do the unimaginable? Full toss around off, Jansen comes down a bit and smokes it over the bowler's head for a biggie.

OUT! RUN OUT! Not even in the frame! Poor running from Nabe as at no stage he seemed to have put in the hard yard. Full outside off, Jansen hits it to the right of long off. Jansen calls for two but Nabe jogs the first one. Nyaku sends the throw at the bowler's end and Moreki does the rest.

FIVE WIDES! A wild delivery from Tshepo Moreki! He sees Jansen comes inside his stumps and bowls a wide delivery outside off. He bowls it too wide as it is far away from Kyle Verreynne. He dives but to no avail.

Full toss outside off, Nabe does his job as he hits it to long on and gets a single to give the strike to Jansen.
