Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Lucia Zouks by 23 runs
So that is it from this game but not the day as we move to the second game of the day as Jamaica Tallawahs take on Barbados Tridents. That game begins shortly. So switch your tabs and join us in a short while for the coverage of that game. Goodbye!
St Lucia Zouks skipper, Daren Sammy says they had them under pressure, they assessed the conditions well. Feels they did not execute their plans towards the end. Tells Knight Riders are the team to beat and any team wanting to win this tournament will have to go through them. Says looking at the batting order of Knight Riders, you don't want to bowl spin to the likes of Bravo and Pollard. On him bowling, he says that if he is needed to bowl he will bowl and he bowled today as he did not feel spin was the right option to go against Pollard and the team needed him to bowl as there was no spin on offer off the wicket.
For his brilliant performance not just with the bat but also with the ball, Trinbago Knight Riders skipper, Kieron Pollard is also the Player of the Match. Pollard says that the Zouks had them under pressure but the boys stood up to it and it was a very good game overall for them. On the milestone, he says he is doing good and hopes that he continues to lead well with the support of the backroom staff. On the pitch, he says it was a better pitch and says they want to play each game as their last game and play each ball and not wicket. On the availablity of Munro and Khan for the final league game, he says Munro might struggle to make it but tells people need rest as it is a big tournament.
Earlier in the day, after being put into bat, the Knight Riders put on a match-winning total of 175 courtesy of their big hitting at the death. Pollard's 21-ball 42 along with an anchoring 50 from Darren Bravo guided the Knigh Riders to that big score. Scott Kuggeleijn was the pick of the bowlers for the Zouks as he finished with 2/35. A figure which was spoilt by the big KP at the death.
It was the Pollard show for the Trinbago Knight Riders as their skipper led from the front in all deapartments. KP initially did the job with the bat and then decided to make it a perfect day with the ball in hand as he scalped 3 big wickets of Deyal, Fletcher and Nabi. He also kept chopping and changing his bowlers, using 7 of them and not letting Zouks settle. Dwayne Bravo showed his class and experience as well. As he finished with 2/26 from his 4. Young Seales bowled a very good final over of the game and finished with 2 wickets himself. Overall it was a clinical bowling display from the Trinbago Knight Riders.
Chasing 176, the Zouks got off to a really slow start as Kimani Melius struggled to get going. Deyal too took his time but failed to capitalise on it later on. Fletcher gave the Zouks some hope with his 27-ball 42 but the slow start by the openers made the task in hand too big for the likes of Nabi, Najibullah and Sammy as the Zouks lacked the firepower which Pollard provided for the Knight Riders.
Another day and another victory for the Trinbago Knight Riders. They continue their perfect season and are not slowing down in any aspect and are hardly showing any signs of weakness. No wedding anniversary present for Daren Sammy as his side have work to do before the semi-finals.
