Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Lucia Zouks by 6 wickets (D/L method)

It is a goodbye for now but hey folks, there is another one coming up at 5.30 pm local (2130 GMT). Jason Holder's Barbados meet Rovman Powell's Jamaica. Should be a good game. See ya then. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
So that ends a short game, which went very long! The Knight Riders were the favourites to win before the match and they just strut their stuff. The Zouks were no match. 4 out of 4 for TKR and they are looking very, very solid. Zouks stay where they are, in second place.
Victorious Trinbago Knight Riders skipper, Kieron Pollard, calls the achievement of Dwayne Bravo as fantastic. Says that when T20 began, everyone thought it was a joke but it has become very serious, especially for the West Indies, of which he has become an integral part. Praises Bravo's competitiveness be in the same team or in the opposition and welcomes the spirit. On this particular game, Pollard says that each and every person in the Knight Riders' camp has an idea about his role. Stresses that the strength of the team is the communication which is crystal clear. Wants his guys to express themselves and share the responsibility equally.
St Lucia Zouks skipper, Daren Sammy, congratulates Dwayne Bravo for his accomplishment. Says that DJ has just been a pioneer for the West Indies in T20 cricket and is proud of him. Coming to the game and the overdependence on Nabi, Sammy does not look too much into it and says that cricket is a team game and you need performances from every player. Understands the meaning of the question though and the seriousness behind it. However, is happy with the fight shown by his side. Does not want his guys to be discouraged but come back in the next game with full confidence.
DWAYNE BRAVO HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He is all smiles. Says that it is a great result for the team as they want to keep winning. Adds that during the rain, himself and Daren Sammy were discussing that every time these two teams play, it rains! On being asked to describe the feeling of taking 500 wickets in T20 and 100 in CPL, Bravo smiles shyly and says that he would like to congratulate himself. Thanks everyone who sent him congratulatory messages and says that he just wants to continue enjoying cricket.
We all know who would be the Man Of The Match but please stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier, the Zouks never got going, as they struggled to the clever changes of pace by the Knight Riders. The focus was all on Dwayne Bravo, who created a world record by becoming the first bowler to take 500 wickets in T20 cricket and even 100 in the CPL. Mohammad Nabi did revive the innings a little bit but even if this had been a full 20-over contest, doubt if the result would have been any different. Rain made it a 9-over dash, with the target a paltry 72.
Nothing much to talk about the Zouks' bowling. 9 overs is too less to judge a bowler (those being a fan of T10 cricket will differ) and the result of the game never looked in doubt at any stage once the target was announced. Even though they were 4 down pretty early, the target was never going to be big enough to induce any pressure or affect any collapse.
Comfortable win in the end for the Knight Riders. There was a bit of a wobble at 34/4 but their batting line-up is like the elixir of life. Never ends. Little Bravo and Tim Seifert barely huffed as they got over the line.

FOUR! 'COMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEONNNNNNNNNNNNN!' yells Seifert as he plays that shot. Those are the winning runs! Coming off the bat of Seifert. Full outside off, Seifert drives it through covers and finishes the game in style. TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS WIN BY 6 WICKETS!

NO BALL! Holder looks for the yorker but ends up bowling an above waist height full toss. Bravo milks it wide of sweeper cover and takes a run. They steal the other one as well. Poor fielding. Free Hit to follow.
New balls please. That was a big shot from Little Bravo. It has gone out of the park.

Needed a direct hit. Full and outside off, Bravo runs this towards short third man. Kesrick Williams at short third man takes it very lightly, not attacking the ball and the batsmen take a quick single. Seifert is still gone for all money but Williams misses his direct hit. OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Pollard's gone as soon as Mumbai were asked to switch on their TV sets. Jokes apart, what a ball. Bowled with a perfect upright seam, landing it on a length outside off, Pollard looks to punch this down the ground but the ball seams back in a mile. Takes the thinnest of inside edges and dies down in front of the keeper but Andre Fletcher does really well to dive to his left to catch. Chemar starts celebrating but the keeper appeals and the umpire raises his finger!

FOUR! Wow. Timing. Is the Mumbai camp watching? Send him at number 4 in the Indian T20 League. This man is in some serious form. And this shot is a prime example. Around off, Pollard just uses his wrists to flick this over mid-wicket. The ball flies at the rate of knotts to the mid-wicket fence!

OUT! Catching practice. Second wicket for Williams to tick in his notebook. Though we haven't seen that notebook in this season yet. A short ball, outside off, Webster pulls this with a horizontal bat, but he gets only as far as Scott Kuggeleijn at wide long on. Straightforward catch, no need to even move. Actually, he moves, but after taking the catch, due to the momentum.

FIVE WIDES! Horror story. Imagine you are a keeper. And the ball is coming towards you initially, like watching a 3-D movie but then going away from you. And you cannot do anything. That is the state of Andre Fletcher. He stands outside off, when Kuggeleijn runs into bowl. Then takes a step to his left as he sees the ball land around leg stump. Then, he is blinded, because he cannot see whether Webster has connected with his pull. Still, he dives. The ball is way past him, well away from him, racing to the fine leg fence.

Unbelievable. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E. Is this the same ground which witnessed so much rain? The revised target is out. TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS NEED 72 IN 9 OVERS!
Update - 1.20 pm local (1720 GMT) - We are hearing that the game could start at 1.30 pm local. That would be terrific. We are not sure of the overs yet, but one assumes that it could be somewhere between 8-10 overs for TKR to chase.
Update - 1.10 pm local (1710 GMT) - The ground is now bathed in bright sunshine. It now depends on how good the drainage is.
Update - 1 pm local (1700 GMT) - The conditions have not quite improved and we have already lost 90 minutes. That is almost an entire T20 inning!
Update 1230 local (1630 GMT) - It is still raining and there is lot of water on the covers. It will take some time for the groundsmen as well to mop up but it has to stop raining first. Stay tuned.
Update 1220 local (1620 GMT) - Ohh no, it has started to drizzle again and the covers are coming back on. So, the wait continues. Let's stay hopeful for some action soon. Stay with us.
Update 1215 local (1615 GMT) - It seems that the rain has stopped and it has brightened up a little. The groundsmen are at work and there is an inspection scheduled at 1230 local (1630 GMT). Stay tuned.
Update 1148 local (1548 GMT) - Unfortunately, it is still raining and it looks like we are in a bit of a delay here. Let's hope that it clears soon. Stay with us for further updates.
Dwayne Bravo is there for an interview. He starts by thanking the almighty god for the terrific achievement of 500 wickets. Also thanks his teammates. Is pleased to get to the 500-wicket landmark in T20s. Adds that he cannot remember who was his first T20 wicket. States that winning trophies is more important for him. Says that the Zouks got off to a good start and he does not normally bowl in the Powerplay but Pollard told him to get the wicket. Adds that he just decided to bowl a hard length to Cornwall and it worked. States that he did not know that he has dismissed Pollard the most times in T20s but he is a good friend of his and has been really supportive. Goes on to say that he is very passionate about music and he wants to collaborate with musicians all around the world. States that his family is very happy for him. Bravo says that he loves cricket and there being no fans in the stadium does not really affect him. Adds that Brian Lara, Mervyn Dillon and Richard Smith, his captain in his early first-class days played a big part in his growth. Adds that he tries to make himself approachable for the youngsters. States that he takes his fitness very seriously and always eats right. Goes on to say that he still wants to enjoy the game and he tries to stay focussed in a tournament like this. Says that CPL is a tough tournament and it is tough to come back if they lose some matches at the start. Adds that the TKR players challenge themselves as players and try to perform the best. Bravo feels that Lasith Malinga is the best T20 bowler and his fitness is great.
The intensity of the rain has picked up. More covers are coming on. We have got an hour before we start losing overs.
Javelle Glen comes out now. But it is starting to drizzle. On come the covers. The active groundstaff is in action. Looks like a passing shower. Let's hope so.

Excellent keeping. Full and down the leg side, Chase misses his flick. The ball deflects off his pada to the left of the keeper but Tim Seifert flings himself to his left and stops it. Bravo appeals for the catch but there was no wood on that.
Roston Chase walks in at number 4, replacing Cornwall.

OUT! CAUGHT! T20 WICKET NUMBER 500 FOR DWAYNE BRAVO! 100 of those coming in the CPL. What a bowler. A short ball, outside off, Cornwall stays leg side and attempts to bash this through the off side. Cannot keep it down, or does not want to. The ball is aerial and so is Colin Munro at cover point who dives to right and snaps a fine catch! Bravo signals five with his hand and skipper Pollard gets across to hug him. Congratulations, CHAMPION!

Full and around middle, flicked to the leg side again for another dot.

Full and on middle, flicked straight to short fine leg.

RUN OUT MISSED! Comedy of errors. Around middle, Cornwall works it to the leg side. Deyal charges across for the single but Cornwall is not the least bit interested. Deyal has no option but to return. But he is gone for all money. However, the fielder returns a wild throw to Bravo who is not able to collect! Deyal gets back.
500 time! Here is DJ Bravo. 499 T20 wickets and 99 CPL wickets.

SIX! PLUNDERED! Cornwall power. Full and around middle, Cornwall just moves back a touch and smashes it straight back over the bowler for a flat six!
Mark Deyal walks in at number 3, replacing Fletcher.

OUT! CAUGHT! The dangerous Andre Fletcher is gone. But what a catch. Never easy to take these. Full and around off, Fletcher looks for a Martin Guptillesque slog, the one which the Kiwi plays with his head down. Fletcher tries but what he gets instead is a leading edge. In fact, it is hard to say whether he even knows where the ball is! The ball has gone towards backward point but Andre is busy looking straight. He then sees two fielders getting under it - Khary Pierre from point and short third man. Pierre calls for it, does not move for quite a while and then at the last moment, dives forward to take the catch! Excellent concentration. So Ali Khan strikes early again.

WIDE. Sprays this down the leg side now, does Ali, Andre cannot get any bat on it and poor Tim Seifert has to dive to his left to stop.

SIX! There comes the first one! Full and outside off, Fletcher leans and lofts it over long off for half a dozen!

LBW shout first up. Was that pad first? Full and around off, Fletcher looked to defend a ball coming back in with his bat and pad close together. The ball did hit the pad first but the impact was outside off. Not out, on the appeal.

FOUR! Room and punished! Cornwall likes it to the right side of his right leg and that is where Pierre bowls. Full and outside off, Cornwall stays leg side of the ball and lofts it over cover for a boundary!

Down the leg side, Rahkeem misses his flick. The ball goes off his pads towards fine leg and they take a single. An indifferent opening over from Ali Khan. Lacked control. Not how he has been starting in this tournament.

The big guy is underway. Full and outside off, RC drives this on the walk, on the up, to the right of short extra cover. Long off getting across to his left, gives enough time to Cornwall to return for a brace.

A bit wide outside off, short in length, played away from his body through the covers for a couple.
The players take a knee in respect of the 'Black Lives Matter' movement worldwide. They ask for equality, a right which every individual needs to have, irrespective of his or her colour. Right then. All set for the game to begin. Andre Fletcher, with multi-coloured hair, is facing Ali Khan. Here we go...
The umpires make their way to the middle and seem to be in a pretty jovial mood. The Knight Riders are getting into a huddle. Out come the Zouks' openers - Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall. Imad Wasim to start off proceedings. Errr... did I say Imad? Ali Khan looks so similar to Imad Wasim, doesn't he? Ali Khan it will be then, to start off proceedings.
Plenty of eyes will also be on the CHAMPION. Dwayne Bravo. One shy of 500 T20 wickets, set to become the first ever to this milestone. But we will have to wait for a while. Don't think he will open the bowling. Any plans, Polly?
PITCH REPORT - Danny Morrison has a look at the deck feels that there is lesser grass as compared to the other pitch. Because of persistent rain in Trinidad, there is some dampness and moisture on the track. This also means that the batters will have to be watchful and get in before playing their shots.
So all you Indian fans! We have the first Indian featuring in the CPL! Excited to see Pravin Tambe play? He will surely enjoy this pitch. Let's have a closer look at the surface...
Trinbago Knight Riders (Playing XI) - Lendl Simmons, Tion Webster (IN FOR SUNIL NARINE), Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard(C), Tim Seifert(WK), Dwayne Bravo, Khary Pierre, Ali Khan, Fawad Ahmed AND PRAVIN TAMBE (IN FOR JAYDEN SEALES).
St Lucia Zouks (Playing XI) - Andre Fletcher(WK), Rahkeem Cornwall (IN FOR KIMANI MELIUS), Mark Deyal, Roston Chase, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Daren Sammy(C), Javelle Glenn, Scott Kuggeleijn, Kesrick Williams and Chemar Holder.
St Lucia Zouks skipper, Daren Sammy, says that they would have to play against every team if they are to win the CPL. Says that he would have wanted to field first but tosses are not his cup of tea, he says slyly. Stresses that the first objective is to put on a good start with the bat and the planning behind every game is showing in the team's performance. Informs that they have made just the one change - with Rahkeem Cornwall coming back for Kimani Melius.
Trinbago Knight Riders captain, Kieron Pollard, says that they have made a couple of changes. Informs that Sunil Narine misses out as they would want to give chances to the youngsters. Brushes aside the tag of the champions already and says that they are looking at only one game at a time as even last season, they got a similar tag. Adds that things are already getting heated and they need to remain calm. On Narine missing out, he says that he is suffering a slight niggle, but nothing serious. Expects the pitch to be slow and dry and hence the reason, he says, for bringing in an extra spinner.
TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Daren Sammy flips it, HEADS is the call from Kieron Pollard and it is a HEAD. TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS WILL CHASE.
WEATHER - It is bright and sunny for now. Does it mean that it will rain later? Naahhh... this is not Tarouba!
Hello and welcome to game number 13 of this season's CPL. It is the top of the table clash as table-toppers Trinbago Knight Riders take on St Lucia Zouks. The Knight Riders have won all of their 3 games so far and will be looking to solidify their spot at the top and maintain their 100 percent record. The Zouks after losing their first game are on a 3-game winning streak themselves and will be looking to make it 4 and get to the top of the table. Lots of firepower and star names on both sides and this should be a cracker. Will Trinbago still be at the top of the table or will Sammy get one over Pollard?
