That's it from our coverage for this game. The action in the Pakistan Super League 2023 continues on Wednesday, the 22nd of February with Multan Sultans taking on Karachi Kings at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The game begins at 6.30 pm IST (1 pm GMT). As always, you can join us early for the built-up. Until then, take care and goodbye from us.
Shaheen Afridi, the captain of Lahore Qalandars is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his terrific spell with the ball. He starts by thanking the almighty and adds that Rashid Khan has made the bowling much stronger and says that they looked to score in excess of 170 runs. Adds that the start Fakhar Zaman and Mirza Tahir Baig gave them was useful and Shai Hope played very well for them and thanks him for his new journey as the West Indies skipper. Mentions that he is happy with his spell and wishes that he had the pace of Haris Rauf. Adds that he only tries to bowl best and he thought that it swung early on and hence pitched the ball up.
Quetta Gladiators skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed says that they conceded way too many runs and the batters did not get going as they were out of the chase very early. Adds that he is happy with the way Jason Roy was going. Mentions that he is a quality player and he could have taken the game away had he stayed back longer. Adds that they planned their season with Wanindu Hasaranga in their ranks but were disappointed that he did not get the NOC from his board. Closes by saying that it’s a long tournament and they will look to come back stronger.
The Presentation ceremony...
David Wiese is up for a quick chat. Wiese says that he loves this team (Lahore Qalandars) and had good success with them in the past. Adds that he will keep coming back for them as long as possible for him. Mentions that he is enjoying his game right now. Says that bowling pace off was part of the plan as the wicket demanded it. Closes out by adding that losing to Karachi was a wake-up call and the guys stepped up today and played extremely well to get the win.
Earlier in the day, Lahore Qalandars were put in to bat first and made 198 for 6 in their 20 overs. Most of their batters got in and struck at a healthy rate. Shai Hope was the top scorer with 47 while Sikandar Raza finished the innings with a quickfire 32* off 16. Qais Ahmad and Odean Smith picked up a couple of wickets each for Quetta Gladiators. Their bowlers leaked too many runs in the first half but came back well to keep the Qalandars just below 200.
Lahore Qalandars skipper, Shaheen Afridi (3 for 22) and Zaman Khan were terrific at the top for Qalandars in the bowling with David Wiese (3 for 23) and Rashid Khan (1 for 17) continuing the good work in the middle overs. Haris Rauf had an off day but other bowlers stepped up and got a massive win over the Gladiators. This victory will boost their run rate which shall be crucial going deep into the tournament.
Lahore Qalandars have crushed the Quetta Gladiators by a huge margin of 63 runs. Chasing 199 was always going to be a tough ask against the quality bowling line-up of Lahore Qalandars and the Quetta Gladiators did crumble under pressure. Jason Roy was the only batter to take down the Lahore bowling with 5 huge sixes but his inning was cut short on 48 by Rashid Khan. None of the other batters got going or had the intent to go for the chase as Quetta scrapped their way to 135 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Half an appeal for caught behind but it is turned down. Very full again around off stump, Mohammad Hasnain backs away to drive but misses and his bat hits the turf as he is beaten past the outside edge. The replays show that the ball just nicked the stumps on its way but the bails didn't come off.

OUT! TAKEN! The change of angle does the trick for Shaheen Afridi and he has his third wicket of the night. Comes from around the wicket and bowls it very full, angling it onto middle and leg. Qais Ahmad gets the front leg out of the way and hits it hard and flat toward long on. Fakhar Zaman there stays calm and takes a sharp catch just inside the ropes. Also, Mohammad Hasnain comes out to bat.
