London Spirit skipper, Heather Knight says that it was an outstanding win and Deepti played really well. Says that Charlotte Dean was outstanding as well. Goes onto say that they bowled a little loose at times. Tells that they were confident that they can win. Says that they had a few injuries but to put in such a performance was good.
Deepti Sharma, the Player of the Match, says that she believes in herself and her team as they chase very well. Adds that Jemimah knows her strength and she also enjoys playing with Charlotte Dean. Goes onto say that she wanted to finish the game off and she did well. Tells that it is easy to chase a target and hopes that the Men's can do the same.
Manchester Original Women could not capitalize the start to their advantage. Skipper, Kate Cross got them off to a dream start by snaring the wicket of Tammy Beaumont. The bowlers continued to keep things tight and stemmed the run flow. But after picking up the wicket of Dattani, the bowlers were taken for a ride by Knight and Dottin. But it was Alex Hartley who came in to turn the game around by picking up two wickets in a single set of 5. With two new batsmen in the middle, it looked like Manchester Originals Women were on top but they lost their grip over the game because of Deepti Sharma and Charlotte Dean.
London Spirit Women recovered well and sealed the game! Their star batter, Tammy Beaumont was sent back on a duck and they were instantly put on the back foot during the chase. Then Knight and Dattani built a handy stand in the middle, to take them out of trouble but still had a job on their hands, but the latter was sent packing on 11. It was then a crucial partnership between Knight and Dottin who counter-attacked really well and kept the scoreboard ticking. But they both were dismissed in quick succession and it felt as if the match had slipped off their hands, as there were two new batsmen in the middle. It was Deepti Sharma who came to the rescue, she got some crucial boundaries in the death overs and took the game away from the home side.
Manchester Originals Women were on the right track but they got derailed towards the end. MNR-W lose a game at home and their campaign comes to an end. The cool head of Deepti Sharma helps London Spirit Women to come out victorious.
