So, it was a walk in the park for India. Now, the Indian team plays New Zealand in their encounter while Japan will face Sri Lanka. India's game starts on the 24th January, Friday at 1000 local (0800 GMT). Till then, cheers and take care.
Indian U19 skipper, Priyam Garg, says he is very happy with the performance. Says that he is very happy with the spinners but the lines and lengths in the start by the seamers could have been better. When asked that coming into this tournament, does it act as extra pressure that India are the defending champions, Garg replies that it's not pressure but it is instead a very good opportunity for them. Adds that they are not thinking that they are the defending champions and are taking each game as it comes.
Japan U19 skipper, Marcus Thurgate, says that they knew it was going to be a very tough game. Adds they could have batted well but will take the positives from this game. Ends by saying he is looking to learn from the mistakes and keep getting better.
RAVI BISHNOI IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH for his 4-fer. Tells that he is really happy and excited to be getting his first Man of the Match award internationally. Tells that he wanted to bowl wicket-to-wicket and he did that really well here. Says that he will continue to come up with similar performances in the coming matches.
Earlier in the day, Japan were dismissed for 41 runs as the Indian bowlers rolled them over. The highest score made by an individual for Japan was 7 runs as India showed their experience and class. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers as he picked a 4-fer, weaving his web around the Japanese batters.
Jaiswal and Kushagra walked out to the middle and chased down the target easily with Jaiswal especially displaying his wide array of shots. It was an easy task and the Indian openers ensured that hard work was not made of it. There was nothing for the Japanese bowlers to defend and they did not have a major role to play in this match.
That is it! India have finished the match in a jiffy and without breaking a sweat. 29 balls is all it took for the Indians to chase down the target and end this match.

0.1
.
A full ball on middle first up, Jaiswal lunges forward and keeps it out.
We are back for the run chase. 42 to win. The two Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kumar Kushagra walk out to the middle. The Japanese players take the field too. Spin to start with as Yugandhar Retharekar comes with the ball first up. Here we go...
So how many overs will India need to chase this total down. We suspect around 5 overs! Do join us after the break for the short burst of action!
How many overs will India take to chase this total down? Because honestly even a miracle here can not save the tournament debutants. The defending Under-19 World Champions showed their class and will look to end it with 10 wickets in hand.
Dhruv Jurel, who celebrates his birthday today, is caught for a quick chat with Alan Wilkins. He says that we are going to win the game and that will be his birthday celebration. Tells that they will look to chase it down quickly. Talking about this game against Japan, the keeper says that the coach told them to be energetic and bowl in the right areas. Feels that the pacers could've done a little better in the initial overs. Talking about keeping to Bishnoi, Jurel jokingly says that it is tough as he is as good as a pace bowler.
The bowlers for India were fantastic, especially Ravi Bishnoi who bamboozled the Japanese batters with his deliveries turning both ways. He finished with a 4-fer while Tyagi, singh and Patil ended with 3,2 and 1 wickets respectively.
Right from the start, it went all haywire for Japan as their skipper departed for for a single and that must have hit their confidence hard as after that, everything that happened was disastrous for Japan. India just pounced on them from thereon as Tyagi took the first two wickets off consecutive balls. That was followed by Bishnoi just ripping apart the middle order, as in his first 2 overs, he did not concede a single run while picking up 4 wickets. Patil took the wicket of Debasish Sahoo whereas Akash Singh took the 2 wickets in the end.
So, that will be it! Japan have been annihilated by India. The tournament debutants have been dismissed for a meager total of 41 runs and India will be looking to chase it down with all 10 wickets in hand.

Jurel pouches the ball behind and puts in a huge appeal. Not out says the umpire and suggests that the noise was of the bat hitting the ground.

Edged but does not carry! A good length ball just outside off, Thurgate is drawn into the shot. He does not move his feet and pokes at the ball. He does so with soft hands. The ball takes the outside edge and goes behind but it bounces well in front of the keeper. Good start from Tyagi.
