Good news for MS Dhoni fans

MS Dhoni fans, rejoice! Suresh Raina, Dhoni’s close friend and former Chennai Super Kings teammate, has confirmed that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman will grace the IPL field for another season.

This news comes as a welcome surprise for many, as IPL 2024 was widely expected to be Dhoni’s swansong. He even relinquished captaincy duties for the current season, with Ruturaj Gaikwad taking the reins for CSK.

However, during a recent interaction with an IPL digital sponsor, Raina confidently responded with a single word – “Khelenge” (He will play) – when asked about Dhoni’s participation in IPL 2025. Former teammate RP Singh, also present, echoed the sentiment, suggesting, “It doesn’t seem like this will be his last season.”

Dhoni’s on-field contributions in IPL 2024 might have been limited, with only 25 balls faced and 59 runs scored. However, his finishing prowess remains undeniable. His highest score of 37* against Delhi Capitals and his crucial 20* knock against Mumbai Indians, including three consecutive sixes in the last over to seal victory for CSK, showcased his ability to rise to the occasion when needed.

This confirmation by Raina fuels the fire of excitement for CSK fans. Dhoni’s leadership and experience remain invaluable assets, and his presence on the field continues to inspire millions. Whether he takes on a playing or a mentoring role in IPL 2025, one thing is certain: MS Dhoni isn’t hanging up his boots just yet.
