- Babar Azam has claimed the No. 1 spot in the ODI batting rankings ahead of the upcoming World Cup
- Other Pakistani players in the top 10 ODI rankings are Imam ul Haq at fifth, Fakhar Zaman at tenth, and Shaheen Afridi at eighth
As the cricketing world gears up for the eagerly anticipated World Cup, Babar Azam has ascended to the pinnacle of the No. 1 ODI batting ranking. While Babar Azam takes his throne as the best in the business, Shubman Gill inches closer to the top spot.
Shubman Gill missed the first spot just by ten points. His excellent performance in the first two matches against Australia starting with scoring 74 runs in the first match and then a century in the second match has allowed him to score a total of 178 runs during the series
However, what sets the stage for an exciting battle at the top is the fact that Babar Azam has not played any official ODI matches leading up to the World Cup. Furthermore, Shubman Gill’s absence in the final match against Australia means that Babar Azam will enter this year’s tournament as the highest-ranked ODI batter.
In addition to Babar Azam’s top ranking, Pakistan boasts other players in the top 10 ODI rankings. Imam ul Haq holds the fifth position, while Fakhar Zaman occupies the tenth spot. Meanwhile, the talented Shaheen Afridi maintains his eighth position in the ICC ODI rankings.
As the World Cup draws near, these rankings add an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the tournament.
