Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan will not agree to play at neutral venue; says former Indian cricketer

Everyone’s favourite Pakistan vs India happened today at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). However, the Indo-Pak does not take place on the fields only as it also happening off the fields. The two boards, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are engaged in a heated banter since secretary BCCI Jay Shah revealed his unilateral decision saying India will not go to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2022.

The PCB has found it shocking and disappointing since Jay, who is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has not considered talking with other ACC members before finalizing the decision. Neither he took Asia Cup-bound boards and the hosts under consideration before settling on a decision. Jay has also called for a neutral venue rather than Pakistan.

Many have shown their stance on it, and Farrukh Engineer, the former cricketer, is one of them. He understands that PCB will never surrender in front of BCCI’s willingness. His statements read,

“I don’t think Pakistan will agree to play at a neutral venue, because they need the resources and need foreign teams to play in Pakistan. They have been deprived of cricket for a long time,”

Various statements have been coming over since then, including the reports stating that Pakistan either will not visit India for World Cup 2023 in case India deny visiting Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. It has also been heard that the PCB has decided to opt for continuing the Asian battle next year within Pakistan, with or without India.

Since Asia Cup 2022 hosting was awarded to India by ACC overall, which also includes Jay, the experts understand there is no point in neglecting now. As far as the official statement from PCB is concerned in regard, they have called for an urgent meeting.
