The 2023 version of the Asia Cup is likely to be played in Pakistan as destined despite the Board of Control of Cricket in India’s (BCCI) unwillingness to pay a visit there. A few days back, BCCI Secretary and the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Mr Jay Shah, revealed a unilateral decision that India will not visit Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.
He is getting big support from India, claiming that BCCI has nothing to do with it until government permits any tour; Jay and BCCI are under hot water as backlashes come from the neighbours. Mr Ramiz Raja, who is the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has called for an emergency meeting with ACC and is in no mood to opt for a neutral venue as chosen by Jay.
Since Asia Cup 2023 was awarded by the entire ACC, including Jay, to Pakistan, there is no point in relocating it because of BCCI’s unwillingness. Notably, Jay’s decision, which was publicized, was unilateral since nothing in regard was shared with the ACC, Asian Cricket Boards or even the hosts.
Recent reports have revealed that if India will not visit Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan too will be reluctant to voyage there for ICC World Cup 2023 to be hosted by India. Also, if the ACC forces to opt for a neutral venue for the Asian battle, the PCB is likely to cut all relations with the Asian council.
Now, the revolving reports state that Asia Cup 2023, as destined, will be hosted by Pakistan, with or without India.
