Aaron Finch who is Australia’s limited over cricket Skipper thinks that his red-ball career is now down and dusted. The better led his team to the maiden T20 World Cup last year in November. French was also a part of big Bash League Melbourne renegades. Unluckily his side finished at the bottom of the points table the third time consecutively. Also, he has gone unsold in IPL 2022 Mega auction.
While talking to the media he has revealed, that although he loves first-class cricket but he feels that he will not be able to play the format anymore. Take that now he wants to pave the way for the imaging youngsters since he no longer represents Australia in the first class or test cricket. He played his last test match against India in December 2018 which happened at the iconic MCG ground on boxing day.
“I don’t think I’ll play again. There’s no point, I’m not going to play Test cricket again so the younger guys in our squad, there’s some really talented players, so there’s no point me taking up one of those spots when they can be getting really valuable game time. I love playing red-ball cricket, but it’s just reality”, said Finch as quoted by cricket.com.au. “Unless you’re pushing for a Test match, I don’t really see the point to be honest.”
Despite his own plans not to play Test cricket, cricket Australia has been too reluctant in picking Finch in the test program. He looks out of Australia as a scheme of things in the longest format since 2018 win an excellent white-ball captain for the five-time world champions, leading them in the semifinals of the 2019 world cup in the UK and a world T20 victory at the United Arab Emirates a couple of years before.
He has scored 278 runs in test matches everything at 27.80. The classical knocks include having centuries with his highest score being 62. French son will be in the action during the Limited over series against Pakistan that will kick start shortly after winding up the three-match red-ball series and three ODIs. It must be noted Australia are in Pakistan for the first time in 24 years. The first Test between the two sides has ended in a draw.
He will be hoping for Australia’s successful title defence as the captain in the T20 World Cup 22 that will be played in the Australian region in October November.
