Mohammad Amir, who retired from Test cricket to focus on white-ball cricket, advises young cricketers to focus on red-ball cricket. The pacer took his international retirement back this week and has made himself available for selection ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Amir, who has been part of controversial headlines since his retirement, took it to his social media and announced reconsidering his decision on PCB’s ‘request’. He retired from Tests in 2019 with 119 wickets and shifted his focus to limited-overs cricket.
However, after developing issues with PCB management back then, he retired from ODIs and T20Is as well. With new management at the helm, Amir has been named in training camp among 29 players. Talking from Kakul where the fitness camp is underway for the players, he said,
“Four-day cricket makes you a complete bowler and you learn the art of fast bowling by playing it,”
Notably, the board has organized this camp ahead of the five-match t20I series against New Zealand, to be followed by T20Is against England, and the T20 World Cup 2024. In another development, Imad Wasim also took his retirement back and is one of the 29 players in the training camp.
It is pertinent to mention that the five T20Is will be played between April 18 and 27. It remains to be seen if Amir will replicate his past success or will continue to be part of controversial headlines.
