The Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, unveiled the Asia Cup 2022 trophy in Abu Dhabi on August 19th. The ACC event is due to take place between August 27th and September 11th in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the trophy unveiling ceremony, Shammi Silva, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket; Mubashshir Usmani, the General Secretary of Emirates Cricket Board; Subhan Ahmed, the Advisor of Emirates Cricket Board; Prabhakaran Thanraj, the Head of Events and Commercial of Asian Cricket Council, and Thusith Perera, the GM Finance and Operations of Asian Cricket Council were others alongside the chairman of ECB.
It must be noted Asia Cup 2022 will be played in T20 format. It was earlier scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka but has been shifted to the UAE following Sri Lanka’s economic and political instability. It must be remembered that SLC is still the event’s host. UAE also hosted the last year’s edition that was played in 2018. India lifted the trophy under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

A total of six teams will participate in the event – Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, whereas the sixth participant will be one from Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, or UAE on qualifying.
The opening encounter will take place on August 27th, between the hosts Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, whereas the following day will see anticipated India vs Pakistan.
