These three Pakistani women cricketers earn maiden central contracts

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday on-screen women’s central contracts for the 2022-23 cycle. Three new faces have earned their maiden central contracts including leg-spinner Tuba Hasan, Sadaf Shamas, and Gul Feroza, whom the PCB understands the future prospects of women’s cricket.

Tuba’s performances have been appealing since her debut, which came against the Sri Lanka series. In the first match, she picked a three-wicket haul conceding eight runs. The spell became the best-ever bowled by any Pakistani woman cricketer.

She was also awarded the ICC Player of the Month in May 2022 as a result of her performances. Moreover, eight players have been promoted in categories for their recent tremendous showcases.

Aliya Riaz and Nida Dar have been elevated to Category A alongside the team’s skipper Bismah Maroof. Whereas, Kainat Imtiaz and Javeriya Khan, for their disturbing performances, have been demoted to Category C.

Furthermore, Ghulam Fatima, Irum Javed, and Sidra Amin, who last gained their contracts in 2018-19, 2016-17, and 2019-20 respectively, have regained the contracts 2022-23. Below is the complete list for women’s central contracts 2022-23.

Women’s Central Contracts 2022-23:

Category A (3) – Aliya Riaz, Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar

Category B (5) – Anam Amin, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Omaima Sohail

Category C (5) – Ayesha Naseem, Muneeba Ali, Javeria Khan, Sidra Amin and Sidra Nawaz

Category D (7) – Ghulam Fatima, Gul Feroza, Iram Javed, Kainat Imtiaz, Sadia Iqbal, Sadaf Shamas and Tuba Hassan

It must be noted that PCB yesterday announced men’s central contracts for 2022-23 as well. People were amazed to see out-of-form Hasan Ali named on the white-ball and red-ball lists. Also, the exclusion of Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf was another topic to talk about.
