The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced significant progress towards hosting the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In a major update, the board revealed ongoing upgrades to four key stadiums across the country.
These renovations target Karachi’s National Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Multan Cricket Stadium, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium – all set to play host to the tournament. The PCB has confirmed that work has already begun to ensure the stadiums meet the high standards expected for an ICC mega-event.
This news comes as a major boost for Pakistani cricket fans, particularly considering the last ICC event held in the country was the 1996 Cricket World Cup. While Pakistan successfully hosted the Asia Cup 2023, it was a shared hosting arrangement with Sri Lanka due to security concerns raised by the BCCI, resulting in only four matches played on Pakistani soil.
However, the Champions Trophy 2025 presents a golden opportunity for Pakistan to showcase its cricketing passion and revamped infrastructure to a global audience. It’s also a chance for redemption as Pakistan emerged victorious in the last edition of the Champions Trophy, defeating India in the 2017 final.
The ongoing renovation process at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, currently hosting the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, highlights the PCB’s commitment. After this series concludes, the action will shift to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the final two T20Is. It’s a strategic move, allowing construction crews to continue renovations at Rawalpindi in preparation for the Champions Trophy.
With these upgrades and the passionate Pakistani cricket fanbase, the 2025 Champions Trophy promises to be a thrilling spectacle. The PCB’s proactive approach ensures the stadiums will be world-class facilities, ready to welcome players and fans for a truly unforgettable cricketing experience.
