Fawad Alam completed 1000 runs in Test cricket during the ongoing match against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium.
Pakistani cricketer Fawad Alam made his debut for Pakistan in May 2007. However, he played his first Test match on the 12th of July 2009, against Sri Lanka. He then lost his place in the Test team and had to wait for 11 years to come back to the squad. After 13 years since making his test debut, today, on 25th July 2022, in the second Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium, he completed his 1000 Test runs.
This left-handed batsman had come on a long journey full of startles. Fawad came in for the playing XI after the former test captain Azhar Ali was dropped from the squad due to his failure to score runs for the Pakistani team. In total, he has played 18 Test matches, out of which in the 19th one he made a record.
In his Test debut, he scored massive 168 runs, which felt that he would further continue to play for the Pakistan cricket team representing them, but in the next two test games, he failed to score runs and give his best performance, due to which he was ruled out of the playing squad. He then started playing domestic cricket, in which he showed outstanding performance but still wasn’t given any consideration by the Pakistani selectors.
In first-class- cricket, he had scored a total of more than 10,000 runs but still did not get a chance to play for the team until today, when he achieved 1000 runs in Test cricket. Left out of the team for an extended period, he still did not lose hope and proved his return to the team efficiently as an essential part of the team.
