Rohit Sharma has invited a lot of backlash and anger as he called his team back, declaring the inning at 574/8 against Sri Lanka. It is not because of his short stint which included 29 off 28 balls, rather his decision to call back the team when Ravindra Jadeja was drawing in close to his Test 200.
This would have been Jadeja’s first double century on the home soil but he was deprived of that privilege. India has put massive numbers on the board with the help of a marathon of 175* runs that have exclusively come out from Jadeja’s bat comprising of 17 boundaries and three maximums. Rishab Pant’s 96 further aided the team and all these runs helped team India have a rock-solid start to the Test series.
Even though the hosts look very comfortable at the moment, the Indian fans are lashing out at the captain for not waiting for the all-rounder to hit a doubleton.
