- Pakistan Cup is the country’s most extensive domestic List-A contest
- It has been unnoticed and ignored to no extent this season
- The biased PCB has spent all on PSL and Pak vs Aus marketing and promotion and coverage
Pakistan’s most extensive List-A tournament, National One Day Pakistan Cup, is ignored to no extent since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is spending its huge budget on marketing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the historic Australia tour of Pakistan.
With all attention given to the rest of the tournaments, no hype was given access to the Pakistan Cup, which has been operating since 2009. Although last year’s season was fully covered and broadcasted, this time, the PCB has been reluctant in doing so.
Notably, not a single match was telecasted on Television or YouTube channel. Also, the board’s social handles have not been covering the live scores. However, the board has assured to broadcast of the semi-final and the final of the event. It must be noted the semifinals of the event are down and dusted with the final now scheduled for 1st April, between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan.
Many players, in a month-long tournament, showcased notable performances, but they are not highlighted to an extent. A number of records have been registered by several teams and cricketers on an almost daily basis but there is merely any appreciation to boost their confidence.
All top-notch and domestic players are participating for respective teams; Central Punjab, Northern, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Baluchistan. The tournament began on 2nd March and is being played at Multan, Faislabad, and Islamabad’s stadiums, and complexes.
The biased behaviour of the board will surely trigger a war. The players, no doubt, will be feeling unworthy getting no applause for their worth-mentioning performances.
Amidst the ongoing Pak vs Aus, only a few people know about the Pakistan Cup, which is the most limelight domestic tournament in the country. Such contests are organized for the youngsters and raw talents to get noticed, however, the 2022 season has turned out as a huge disappointment for cricket lovers and the participants.
