Pakistan’s cricketing itinerary is packed with action as they gear up for an exciting season ahead. Following a thrilling series against New Zealand at home, where they are set to clash in five T20Is from April 18 to April 27, Pakistan will embark on a tour to England for another intense battle, featuring four T20Is scheduled from May 22 to May 30.
However, before their English expedition, the Pakistani team will make a stopover in Ireland for a series of three T20 matches. The fixtures are slated to take place on May 10, 12, and 14 at the picturesque Clontarf Cricket Club. With matches set to kick off at 8 PM PST, cricket enthusiasts can expect some exhilarating cricketing action under the lights.
Preparation is key for the Pakistani squad as they shuffle between series. To fine-tune their skills and strategize effectively, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assembled a 29-player team for an extensive training camp at Kakul. Notable inclusions in the squad are seasoned campaigners like Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, who have recently come out of international retirement, adding depth and experience to the lineup.
One of the crucial decisions looming over the PCB is the appointment of the T20I captaincy. With uncertainty surrounding Shaheen Shah Afridi’s leadership role, the board is expected to make a decision post the Kakul camp. The series against Ireland will serve as a testing ground for the team, providing an opportunity for players to showcase their mettle and stake their claim for leadership roles ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to commence on June 1.
