Pakistan have overpowered South Africa in a do-or-die clash, winning it by 33 runs via a DLS method. Earlier in the day, they won the toss and elected to bat first. It turned out productive as they accumulated 185 in the first inning with the contributions of Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed’s power show.
However, while defending, their target was reduced to 142 required from 14 overs as the rain enforced the DLS method. South Africa lost six wickets within eight runs, ranging from 95 to 108, and fell short of wickets while managing the target.
It left Pakistan in cheers ticking two of the three boxes, now foreseeing domineering Bangladesh in their following encounter. Notably, Shaheen Shah Afridi turned out to be the top wicket-taker with a three-wicket haul, followed by Shadab Khan’s two scalps.
Pak vs Ban is now scheduled for November 6th, Sunday. Babar Azam and co are currently placed third on the points table with an NRR of +1.117 and four points.
