Haider Ali has become the second player from Pakistan’s squad to be taken to hospital after Naseem Shah, as both contracted viral illnesses. After the Pak vs Eng 6th T20I, the batter was immediately hospitalized, where his health was monitored.
The middle-order batsman could amass 18 runs from 14 balls but felt dizziness in the dressing room and was substituted. The men in green ultimately lost the encounter by eight wickets, as a result of which, the seven-match T20I series is levelled by 3-3, with one game to spare.
On revealing the situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board narrated,
“Haider Ali is feeling unwell. He has a viral illness and is being taken to the hospital for further check-ups. He will stay overnight in the hospital,”
The national team has been put to rest as no cricket activity has been scheduled for Saturday with two players falling ill. Earlier, Naseem was hospitalized as he suffered pneumonia. However, the paceman is gradually healing as he shared on Twitter that he is feeling pretty well than before. Naseem, after falling ill, was ruled out from the leftover two matches. He was put under isolation for two days, further developing COVID-19 symptoms on Thursday.
His expelling out from the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 could have been a big blow to the team. However, the board has confirmed that Naseem will fly to New Zealand with the team for the tri-series. The World cup-bound squad will first tackle Bangladesh and homies New Zealand in the tri-series and will head towards Australia for the marquee event.
