Pak vs Eng 1st Test: Agha Salman reveals his plan for final day

All-rounder Agha Salman of Pakistan, in a conference after the conclusion of Day 4 of first test match between England and Pakistan, has shown optimism for winning the Test. After so much of assistance to the bowlers, and Pakistan ended up conceding plenty of runs in both England’s innings, things look in control for Pakistan, as they need 263 runs to win with the final inning left for the final day.

Notably, England totalled 506 and were four down on Day 1 of the first test. With Pakistani bowlers grabbing the rest of the wickets on the next day, the guests’ batters could reach 657. In response, the Pakistani batters put up a solid start and continued their inning to Day 3; however, they collapsed on 579, giving them a chance to England to continue to lead.

In their second inning on Day 4, England continued to develop a further lead, and skipper Ben Stokes declared on 264 in the next innings, finding it enough for Pakistan to challenge, developing a target of 343. Out of it, Pakistan have scored 80 runs and is now trailing by 263 runs.

Agha, yet to bat in the team’s second inning, scored 53 off 67 in the team’s first inning. He is looking to do something bigger to spare the Test rather than seeing it ending as a draw. With only a final day remaining of the first test, Pakistan now need 263 runs to win.

In a conference, Agha said,

“Top priority is to save the match. We are very excited to bat, and if found the opportunity, I will try my best to win it for my team,”

“Everyone in the camp is discussing winning this match, but we must give credit to England for the way they played,”

Agha, while revealing his approach to tackle the English bowlers, said that,

“The management tells us to play the natural way; I will try to cover necessary runs, contributing to winning. I have been trying to attack their bowlers with power shots.”
