No Explanation Policy adopted by PCB

  • The PCB will not provide an explanation for inclusion or expulsion from the squad
  • Imad Wasim was dropped and no communication was done by the board
  • Muhammad Haris and Asif Afridi made it to the national team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has adopted a no explanation policy for the players who are dropped or not selected for any upcoming series. The board announced yesterday the names of the players for the white ball series against the visiting Australian team and many seasonal players were not included.

While a few new faces made it to the squad including that of Muhammad Haris and Asif Afridi both of whom had a tremendous PSL season that concluded in February this year, some seasonal players were left and a few were dropped for the limited-over series. It was noted that all-rounder Imad Wasim and wicket-keeper reserve Sarfaraz Ahmed were dropped from the squad while fans questioned the exclusion of batter Shan Masood and young pacer Naseem Shah.

According to sources, Pakistan star all-rounder Imad Wasim was disheartened by his ouster despite performing so well in the T20 World Cup 2022 in October/November. He was also rested in the Bangladesh away series. But despite his dissatisfaction, no brief has been provided by the chief selector Muhammad Wasim and even the team skipper Babar Azam hasn’t said anything about the matter.

On the other hand, seasoned all-rounder Shoaib Malik was also excluded from the squad. His career is still in the air as the 40-year-old had said that he has left the decision of inclusion entirely on Babar Azam. if the captain feels his expertise is needed then he’ll come and perform and vice versa, according to Malik.

Even though all the cricket boards across the world provide an explanation of why certain players are dropped and some added, this new decision to keep things private by PCB is a first-timer and clearly fans and players are not happy about it.

The limited-overs series against Australia will start from 29th March at 3 PM PST.
