New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Wednesday named a 15-player squad for the upcoming Pakistan tour. The Black Caps will visit Pakistan this month for a five-match T20I series, starting April 18th. Almost all top-rated players are currently taking part in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Hence, the NZC has named a depleted squad for the Pakistan tour.
Players including Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, and Glenn Philips are committed to their respective IPL franchises.
Furthermore, Tim Southee has been rested while Colin Munro was unavailable for selection. Will Young and Tom Latham were also unavailable for selection. The board has introduced many new faces including Wellington’s Tim Robinson and Canterbury’s Will O’Rourke who will make their debut in the upcoming T20I series.
All-rounder Michael Bracewell will lead the New Zealand side for the first time. He has played 16 T20Is up to date. The only notable players in the 15-man squad are Ish Sodhi, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Chapman, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, and Adam Milne.
