After returning to the dressing room from the training session on Friday, March 11, 2022, the Australian players were enthralled by Daal Roti’. Australian team visited Pakistan after 24 years since 1998. Australian players were not ready to visit Pakistan due to security issues, but Aussies player Steve Smith said,
“We’re aware of social media and the unfortunate events that can occur on platforms. We trust our security and everyone involved. We are feeling incredibly safe here in Pakistan.”
One of the Australian players’ memories that will undoubtedly carry back to their homeland is Pakistani cuisine. In Rawalpindi, the visiting cricketers continued posting food photos to social media. Marnus Labuschagne shared a picture on Twitter saying
“Daal and roti for lunch too. Delicious,”
Many people started trolling Pakistan Cricket Board while some asked Labuschagne “if he was in jail.” Despite Labuschagne being run out for a duck, Australia controlled the first day of the second Test. Australia concluded the first day’s play at 251-3, with Usman Khawaja undefeated at 127 as he played another century knock. Steve Smith was suspended for 72.
The post went viral across social media platforms almost immediately after being published online. While Indian cricket fans made sure to abuse the Pakistan cricket board completely, Pak internet users mocked the inadequate level of service.
