Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has mimicked Pakistani bowler Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling action accusing him of chucking. The incident took place during the match 14th of The Hundred between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave. The fans and the experts were quick to take note and have termed Stoinis free from sportsmanship.
It must be noted that Hasnain has earlier suffered a ban in January 2022, as his bowling action was found illegal during the eleventh season of the Big Bash League. On January 2nd, during the match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Striker, the pacer’s bowling style was noted, making him not eligible to bowl in any form of cricket until rectifying it.
So far, Hasnain has featured for Oval in three matches, and umpires have shown no concern towards his bowling style. Marcus’ poor gesture is creating huge lashes for him from the cricket fraternity, yet, he will not be formally charged by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The PCB rectified Hasnain’s bowling style under the supervision of NHPC coach Umar Rasheed. He was tested and given green signals by the ICC and Cricket Australia’s Independent Experts to bowl again in competitive cricket. Oval Invincibles made full use of the opportunity, contracting him on the day he was approved to bowl again in all forms of cricket.
It was understood that the Australian all-rounder would be charged for breaching ECB’s code of conduct for misbehaving and pointing out bowling style for no reason. He remained the top-scorer of the losing side, but an 88mph bowl from Hasnain let his bowl drive to mid-wicket ending his journey on 37 off 27, caught by Will Jacks.
