Right then, that is it from the league stage of the Caribbean Premier League, 2024. A convincing victory for the Trinbago Knight Riders, however, they end up in the third spot. We now move to the playoffs! The eliminator will be played on Wednesday, the 2nd of October, between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Barbados Royals at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT), and Qualifier 1 will be played on Thursday, the 3rd of October, between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Saint Lucia Kings at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT). Do join us for the early buildup as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Kieron Pollard, the skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders, says that it was a good game and they just wanted to bat and put a good score. Adds that these kinds of things happen and says that they have lost a couple of players but they will keep on fighting.
Imran Tahir, the skipper of Guyana Amazon Warriors, says that it is his belief in fighting till the end. Adds that they were loose in the middle and they have a lot to take from this game. Ends by saying that they are happy to play in the Qualifiers

Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the match, the Trinbago Knight Riders posted a formidable total of 211/5 after opting to bat first. Nicholas Pooran was the standout performer with a brilliant century, scoring 100 runs off 57 balls. He was supported by Jason Roy's 34 and quick contributions from Kieron Pollard and Keacy Carty. Despite losing Shaqkere Parris for a duck and Tim David for a golden duck, Pooran's explosive batting and the efforts of the middle order propelled the team past 200. For the Warriors, Shamar Joseph was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets despite conceding 50 runs, while both Imran Tahir and Dwaine Pretorius claimed one wicket each.
The match shifted dramatically after Akeal Hosein dismissed Hope, leading to a collapse in the Warriors' batting order. Waqar Salamkheil (3/26) and Terrance Hinds (3/17) dominated, consistently taking wickets as the Warriors struggled. Later, Gudakesh Motie (26* off 28) and Imran Tahir (20 off 20) put up a fight and pushing the score to 137! They needed 104 runs to qualify in top 2 and 114 to end up on the top spot. It was a tough ask though, as they were reeling at 88/8 at one point. The Trinbago Knight Riders will regret their missed opportunities, having dropped three catches of Motie, as they could have ended up in top 2 if they could have restricted the Guyana Amazon Warriors below 104 runs.
In a chase of 212 runs, the Guyana Amazon Warriors faced early trouble, losing opener Kelvon Anderson in the second over to Nathan Edward. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shai Hope provided a strong response during the powerplay, accumulating 58 runs for the second wicket. Hope notably scored 26 runs off Andre Russell in the final over of the powerplay, providing momentum!
So, the Trinbago Knight Riders have claimed the victory in this match, but the Guyana Amazon Warriors are the happier side as they celebrate finishing at the top of the table, securing their status as the strongest team in the league! The Guyana Amazon Warriors will now face off against the St Lucia Kings in Qualifier 1, while the Trinbago Knight Riders will go up against the Barbados Royals in the Eliminator match!
