An interesting Super Saturday comes to an end. The first match saw the Brisbane Heat beat the Melbourne Renegades to stay alive in the tournament while in the second game, the Perth Scorchers got the better of the Melbourne Stars and that saw the Scorchers move right to the top of the table and also qualify for the knockouts. We have yet another double header coming up on Sunday, 24th January, 2021 where first we will see, Sydney Thunder taking on the Adelaide Strikers at 4.05 pm local (0505 GMT) at the Adelaide Oval, which will then be followed by the Sydney Sixers clashing against the Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG at 7.15 pm local (0815 GMT). We hope to have your company for these games. Until then, cheers and take care!
Jason Roy is the Player of the Match. He says that it's been a huge couple of days and is lucky to contribute with a fifty in a win. Adds that would like to score big in the upcoming games. Also says it is an incredible feeling to come from the bottom of the table and turn around and come on top. Tells that he wants to continue with the good work going forward.
Earlier in the day, the Scorchers started off with the bat in hand. Their openers set up the platform courtesy of Livingstone and Roy, where the latter reached his half-century and some good cameos towards the end saw them end with a total of 182, which was a really good one. The bowling by the Stars was poor. They had some control in the middle period but otherwise, they were sent all over the park. Billy Stanlake was the notable performer for them with the ball whereas everyone else was slightly on the expensive side. Stay tuned as we find out who the Player of the Match is....
The bowling by Scorchers was good to begin with. They removed the dangermen, Stoinis and Maxwell very early on and wanted to set the tone. But they were pushed back when Larkin came out and dictated terms but they came back and did well to remove him as well and kept things tight when it mattered. Tye and Behrendorff were the pick of the lot as they were economical and also picked 3 wickets amongst themselves. Hardie and Fawad were expensive on the night but overall, you would say, the Scorchers would be a very happy bunch with this show.
The Stars needed a good start if they wanted to win this one and they were not provided that by their openers. Stoinis fell early looking to charge and Gotch and Maxwell followed suit quickly. And then, it was all about the fightback provided by Nick Larkin, who played really well and reached 70 runs before falling short. After that, there were a few lusty blows by the tailenders but they were not able to cross the line.
A comprehensive win for the Scorchers. They were on point in all the facets today - with the bat, with the ball and also out on the field. This win also means that Perth move to the first place and also book their place in the knockouts of BBL 10.

The physio is out in the middle to have a look at Cartwright to have the mandatory concussion check. He seems alright to continue.

LEG BYE. Ouch. Right on the helmet. A short ball on middle, Hilton looks to swing at this but he misses and gets hit on the helmet and the ball goes towards the short fine leg region. A leg bye.
