That is it! The next match will be played between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes on Monday, January 18, 2021. Join us for that at 1915 local (0815 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Liam Hatcher is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Is very happy with the result. Says that one never knows what happens in the Surge. He has 13 wickets in the tournament and when asked whether the tournament was turning out to be a good one for him, he says 'yeah'. Adds that he performs well in situations which go 'up and down' as far as his side's prospects in a match are concerned.
Earlier in the day, Melbourne Stars did well to restrict Renegades to 150. Liam Hatcher was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets. Only Sam Harper played well for his 63, for the Men in Red.
Coming to Renegades bowling, they did not have enough score to defend. Only Kane Richardson picked 2 wickets. Will Sutherland and Peter Hatzoglou took 1 wicket each. The bowlers were wayward in their lengths.
It has been an excellent victory for the Melbourne Stars. Nic Maddinson and Hilton Cartwright's partnership sealed the chase for them. They lost Fletcher early but Marcus Stoinis and Nick Larkin's partnership set up the chase for them. Maxwell did not fire big but played well for his 20.

SIX! GAME OVER! Maddinson finishes in style. Looped up ball just outside the off pole line, Nic Maddinson picks it up and sends it way over long on. And even though Stars could not pick up the Boost point, they WIN THIS GAME BY 6 WICKETS!
Imad Wasim to bowl the last over. 4 runs needed off 6 balls. Can Nic finish it with a maximum.

FOUR! Goes for a reverse sweep and oh.... HC gets that well over and wide of the man at short third. Lucky that he had gotten that wide of the fielder there. But to his credit, he knows the field setting well.

WIDE! Well outside off, Hilton Cartwright looks to play at that but misses.

That was hit pretty hard there. Full length ball outside the off pole, Cartwright pumps it with force past the bowler. Long off runs to his right, displays enormous commitment to dive and keep it out. A brace.

Outside off, a swing and a miss.

On the shorter side around the off pole, Nic looks to swing it hard on the leg side but ends up missing it. It clips his pads, goes behind, the keeper fails to keep it out. The ball goes to the leg side and they take a leg bye.

Looped up delivery on middle, Nic gets down and looks to mow a slog sweep. Ends up getting an inside edge onto his body there. A feeble appeal from the Renegades players for a LBW but the umpire is unmoved there.

Short length ball well outside off, Hilton reaches out and strokes it through the covers. Deep cover runs to his right and cuts it off. Three taken though.
Noor Ahmad comes back on, to find a wicket.

A dot to finish. 15 NEEDED IN THE LAST 2 OVERS! Short length delivery outside off, Nic strikes it to cover.

That is over the top of the fielder. Full length ball on the off pole zone, NM gets down and looks to mow a sweep. Gets it uppishly off the top edge and it goes over the man at short fine leg. Two runs taken as he goes behind to retrieve it.
