That is it then from this game and Salem have dealt a body blow to Tiruppur's hopes of making it through to the playoffs. There's one more game left in the doubleheader Saturday in the 2023 Tamil Nadu T20 League as Nellai take on Dindigul. That match will begin at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT) but you can simply switch tabs and catch our build-up to that game. Cheers!
Sunny Sandhu has been adjudged the player of the match for his vital knock of 61 runs which proved decisive.
Tiruppur will be gutted with that loss as they let the advantage slip and in a game that they needed to win in order to bolster their playoff hopes, they have fallen short. After a couple of 30 or so runs partnerships at the top of the order, they seemed to be cruising as the required rate wasn't high either. However, they went from being 105/4 to 125/9 in a matter of few overs and a loss was imminent. The final pair of Gohulmoorthi S and Alliraj Karuppusamy fought back well but in the end it was just too much to do for them. This loss will certainly hurt Tiruppur.
Wow, what a finish! Salem have somehow managed to snatch a win here and have got their second win of the tournament thanks to a superb bowling effort in the latter stages. They didn't have the biggest of scores on the board but thanks to a solid knock by Sunny Sandhu they managed to cross the 150-run mark. They let the opposition get off to a quick start but Sachin Rathi derailed the momentum by picking up all of the top three and this brought Salem back into the game. Still, they had a lot of work to do but Selva Kumaran too picked up three wickets in the latter stages to get his side on top. It was a frantic finish as the last two batters of Tiruppur added some crucial runs but Salem managed to win by 8 runs.
