Man of the Match
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Commentry
That's it from this extremely one-sided affair! Tuesday will bring our way a big match. It's India Legends versus England Legends at 1900 local (1330 GMT). Do join us for all the action. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Rangana Herath is named the Player of the Match for his fantastic bowling performance.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, the Sri Lankan Legends skipper, says that it was a good game for them. Tells that they started really well and adds that their fielding was superb. Dilshan shares that he wanted to start himself in the Powerplay and it worked for them. Says that things worked out really well for them. Praises the performance of Herath and terms him a champion bowler. Tells that everyone in the team is keen to do the job.
Jonty Rhodes, the South Africa Legends captain, tells that they had a lack of practice but takes ownership of the performance. Feels that the Sri Lankans were superb in the field. Wants to correct the basic mistakes they did in this game. Tells that Petersen was one player who was hitting the ball nicely in the nets but was unfortunate to miss out as he got run out on the first ball. Credits the Lankan players but feels their batters threw their wickets away. Praises the performance of Puttick.
Earlier in the evening, it was a tame batting show by South Africa Legends against some accurate bowling by Sri Lanka Legends. The wickets fell at regular intervals and apart from a fighting knock by Andrew Puttick, there was nothing concrete in their batting. The Protea team managed a meagre 89 on the board which was never going to be enough for them.
A walk in the park for Sri Lanka Legends. They had only 90 runs to overhaul and the Lankans demolished the target with 40 balls to spare. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya provided a decent start and after that, the pair of Dilshan and Upul Tharanga went hammer and tongs. There was nothing of note in South Africa Legends' bowling as it was as flavourless as their batting. Overall, an evening to forget for Jonty Rhodes and his men.
