That's all we have from this match. The series is already done and dusted in favour of Pakistan but there is still one game to go. On Monday, 22nd November 2021, the third T20I will be played at the same venue. The action will begin at 2 pm local (8 am GMT) but as usual, you can join us in advance for the build-up. Cheers!
Babar Azam, the winning captain of Pakistan, says that it was a team effort and they carried on with their winning momentum. Tells that the bowlers did a great job, in all the phases, and pressurized the Bangla batters. Mentions that they prepare themselves for all kinds of totals and it's important not to relax seeing a small total. He appreciates the knocks of Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman. Admits that he is a little disappointed with his own batting but it's a part and parcel of the game and he will try to better it in the next match.
FAKHAR ZAMAN GRABS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD! Says that the way pitch was playing, it was not easy to play shots but they had time to build a partnership. Shares that the pitch was better than the first T20I, not an ideal one but it was a better strip. Tells that whenever you play outside your country, it's important to win games and they will try to win the last match as well.
Mahmudullah, the captain of Bangladesh, says that they started well with the bat, praises Afif Hossain and Najmul Hossain Shanto for their stand but feels that they didn't capitalize in the last few overs. Tells that the boys are putting a lot of effort into the practice sessions but they are unfortunately missing out on the catches. Adds that the bowling unit has been outstanding and reiterates that the batting unit has to come up with the good things.
Presentation coming up shortly...
Bangladesh were outplayed once again. Their issue with the bat remained the same and once again that department was the sole reason for this defeat. Having said that, after losing their openers cheaply, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain put up a responsible stand and it appeared that the hosts will get a score close to 140-150. But one bad shot selection from Afif resulted in his departure and from there, Bangladesh's batting innings slipped. Their bowling once again was impressive, every bowler tried but they didn't have enough runs on the board. The Tigers were also sloppy in the field, putting down a couple of catches, and need to pull up their socks. Another concern for them will be the fitness of Mustafizur Rahman who walked off the field and we still are not sure about the kind of injury he has suffered.
Pakistan's bowlers once again did the bulk of the job. They were accurate and effective in executing their plans and corrected the mistakes that they committed in the first T20I. The bowling at the death was fabulous as they choked Bangladesh and restricted them to a paltry total. In pursuit, Pakistan sized up the conditions quite well, knew that it's not going to be easy to play shots and decided to carefully shape the chase. The required rate was never demanding, so Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan had time to plan their innings and the duo smartly stitched a match-winning alliance of 85 runs. Babar Azam with the bat was the only disappointment for them in this game but given the class of Babar, it should not be an issue for Pakistan.
Easy win for Pakistan and they have taken an unsurpassable lead in the 3-match T20I series. It was yet another commanding show from them and they have handed Bangladesh only their second series loss in T20Is at home since 2018.
