Right then, that will be it from us for this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. The action continues at the LPL, 2024 as we have a double header in store today. The Galle Marvels will face the Dambulla Sixers in Match 12 of the tournament. That game will start at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). But you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care and cheers!
Wanindu Hasaranga, the Kandy Falcons skipper, says that it was a great game after losing three matches and credits the batters. Adds that the bowlers did not start well in the powerplay and they need to work on the bowling and the fielding aspect going forward.
The skipper of Jaffna Kings, Charith Asalanka says that they were short of 10-15 runs at the end on the back of how they started their batting innings. Adds that such a surface is a nightmare for the bowlers with fast outfields and flat pitches, it gets difficult to contain the opposition.
Dinesh Chandimal is the Player of the Match for his stellar knock. He says that he is over the moon, and as a senior player, he had to stand up. Adds that he tries to keep a positive mindset and it has helped him. Ends by sharing that he is happy with the win.
Earlier in the day, the Jaffna Kings posted a mammoth score of 224 for 7 on the back of an outstanding hundred from Pathum Nissanka while Rilee Rossouw and Kusal Mendis chipped in with handy runs. Dasun Shanaka and Ramesh Mendis were the pick of the Falcons’ bowlers. Kandy Falcons will be on the happier side today while the Jaffna Kings will go back to drawing board and look to come back stronger.
The Jaffna Kings bowlers were under the pump from the start as the Falcons' batters went berserk from ball one. They did not have the answers to the hitting of the Kandy batters and allowed the game to slip away. Tabraiz Shamsi chipped in with a couple of wickets for the Kings but went at nearly eleven and a half to the over. Jaffna Kings have suffered their second loss of the season and have slipped in the points table.
The Kandy Falcons have pulled off the highest successful chase in the tournament and got over the line by 7 wickets in a fantastic game. Chasing a massive score of 225 for the win, the Falcons lost Andre Fletcher in the third over but Dinesh Chandimal and Mohammad Haris joined hands and added 58 runs for the second wicket. Haris departed for 25 in the eighth over but Dinesh Chandimal carried on and blasted 89 runs off just 37 balls to set up the game for his side. Kamindu Mendis played a matured hand of 65 off 36 and stayed unbeaten till the end while Angelo Mathews provided the finishing touches with a quick-fire 29. Kandy Falcons have got a win after a hat-trick of losses and Wanindu Hasaranga will be a relieved skipper.

Slower length ball, angling down the leg. Kamindu Mendis gets low to swipe it away but misses and the umpire signals it wide. Asitha Fernando asks the skipper to take the review. The replays show that it's clipping the pad, through to the keeper and the wide is overturned. A dot to end the over.
