Man of the Match
Andy McBrine
Commentry
So, we have the two finalists, Ireland will face United Arab Emirates in the finals. The red-letter day will be on 24th February at 3:30 pm IST (10 am GMT). But as always the build up will begin much in advance. Do join us for the same. Till then, Adios.
Andy McBrine is the Player of the Match. He says that he feels good to be able to contribute to the team. Tells that it is all about confidence and playing your best cricket. Says that he played with freedom and stayed positive and played his shots.
Andy Balbirnie, the victorious skipper of Ireland says that the team was very motivated and determined to win. Adds that Gareth Delany played really well and his partnership with Harry Tector was crucial. Tells that they both came out and fired from ball 1. Mentions that they have loved the competition and are looking forward to play the finals.
Zeeshan Maqsood, the skipper of Oman, says that it was a bad day and a bad performance from the players. Mentions that this is past now and they need to rebuild and play well in the future. Adds that they were in the game till the 11th over but had a collapse and that turned the match.
Stay tuned for the presentation ....
Oman never gave a fight, the 40-run partnership between Shoaib Khan and Zeeshan Maqsood was the best they managed. Other than that, no one gave any fight. A disappointing performance from Oman and they know it too.
It was the bowlers who put on the show for Ireland. 165 was not that big a target but the bowlers stepped up to the occasion and took wickets at regular intervals. There was only one partnership that look threatening but it was broken by Josh Little. His 11th over was a successful one with two wickets in that and that changed the momentum completely. Other than that, it was a pretty easy day for Ireland.
Ireland are into the finals. What a run they are having. After that error start against UAE, they have found the rhythm and are now one step away from winning the finals. Meanwhile, United Arab Emirates have won their semi final match against Nepal so we have our finalists. Ireland will take on United Arab Emirates in the crunching finale. Both have qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which will happen in Australia.
