CALLUM FERGUSON IS ADJUDGED THE MAN OF THE MATCH! That's all from this game! Sydney Thunder win their second game of the tournament while Perth Scorchers sink further and their look for a win continues. They would want to come back stronger in their next game. On Wednesday, 23rd December 2020, Brisbane Heat go up against Adelaide Strikers. That match will begin at 1815 local (0815 GMT). Join us for that. Until then, cheers and take care.
Earlier, in the game, Sydney Thunder bowled extremely well to restrict Perth to 152. For the Thunder, Adam Milne bowled with pace but the bowling was tight and barring Milne and Green, everyone chipped in with a wicket. Sams was expensive while McAndrew and Cutting did well. Perth Scorchers never looked like they will reach 150 but Mitchell Marsh's innings helped them reach a score which was respectable. But in the end, it did not turn out to be enough as Thunder reached home in the final over.
The bowling from the Scorchers was not that bad. They bowled extremely well at the start and would have felt hard done by as Khawaja survived with the umpire failing to hear an edge. But that did not cost the Scorchers much as they were able to send Usman back cheaply. Behrendorff bowled well at the start while Tye was unlucky. Fawad Ahmed and Aaron Hardie tried their level best but the target was a little too low to defend. 10-15 runs more and the bowlers might have felt that they would have been in with a chance.
Sydney Thunder were not off to a good start as they lost Alex Hales for a duck and lost Usman Khawaja soon after. But Callum Ferguson and Oliver Davies were brilliant as they stitched a fine partnership of 75 and brought Thunder right on top. Davies especially was top notch. He was taking risks while Ferguson was playing the second fiddle to the debutant. Davies fell but Cutting and Ferguson ensured that the Thunder get home in a comfortable manner. Ferguson led from the front with a fine half-century. Overall, it was a good performance.
A comprehensive victory for Sydney Thunder in the end. They were simply brilliant throughout, starting with the ball and then led by Callum Ferguson with the bat. They get their second win of the tournament while the Scorchers remain winless.

FOUR! What a shot that is from Cutting! Back of a length ball outside off, Cutting shuffles across and then powers it past extra cover. The fielder tries hard with a dive but it goes past him and into the fence.

A couple now! Slower ball on off, Cutting heaves it wide of long on and picks up a couple. The umpire wants to check if it is a clean save and it is. 6 needed in 7. Can Cutting finish it on the last ball?

Short ball around off, Cutting sways away from it. Much better from Richardson.

FOUR! Smacked! Poor stuff from Richardson! Full outside off, Cutting smacks it over extra cover for a boundary. 8 needed in 9.

Misfield! What should have been a dot ball ends up in two. Good length ball outside off, Cutting drives it to mid off where the fielder misfields, allowing the batters to pick up a couple.

End of an excellent over. Just three from it. 15 needed in 12 balls. Loopy ball on middle, Ferguson plays it past the bowler and picks up a run.
