Islamabad United revitalized their PSL 2024 campaign with a much-needed win over the Karachi Kings at the National Stadium. United, sitting near the bottom of the table with only one win in four games, now have two wins from five matches, keeping their playoff ambitions alive. Karachi, on the other hand, suffered a setback, slipping to two wins and two losses from four games.
Karachi, batting first, posted a respectable 165/5 thanks to a late surge led by Kieron Pollard (48* off 28) and Irfan Khan (27* off 22). Islamabad’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Salman Ali Agha (1/17), Imad Wasim (1/20), and Naseem Shah (1/29), kept the Kings in check.
In response, Islamabad United produced a clinical chase. Colin Munro’s blistering 82 off just 47 balls set the tone, while Alex Hales (47 off 35) and Salman Ali Agha (25* off 17) provided valuable support. Karachi’s bowlers struggled, with only Mohammad Nawaz, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Hasan Ali managing a wicket each.
United cruised to a seven-wicket victory with nine balls to spare, sparking online discussions with Karachi fans facing criticism for the loss.
