Lucknow Super Giants’ player Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The player sustained an injury, however, the nature of his injury was not disclosed. The reports, revealing later on, state that it was a rib injury, however, the franchise has not confirmed the details.
Mavi was yet to play a match this season. He was bagged by LSG in the IPL 2024 auction for a whopping price of INR 6.4 crore. In a video posted by LSG on their social media accounts, Mavi was quoted as saying:
Lucknow Super Giants’ player disheartened on being ruled out
“I will miss [the tournament] a lot. I had come here after an injury and had thought I would play matches for my team and do well. But unfortunately, I will have to leave because I have suffered an injury.
“A cricketer has to be mentally strong for this. If you have an injury, you need to see what you have to do to make a comeback, what things you need to take care of.”
It is pertinent to mention that the 25-year-old bowler last played a competitive match in August 2023. Featuring Central Zone, he scored 38 and remained wicketless for 46 runs against South Zone at Puducherry.
As far as LSG in IPL 2024 are concerned, they are placed fourth with two wins out of three games. In the seam bowling roaster, the franchise has Matt Henry, Shamar Joseph, Mohsin Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur, Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh. However, they are yet to name a replacement.
