Man of the Match
Charlie Dean
Commentry
Right then, that's all we have from this game. England Women have taken an unassailable lead in the series and they will want to complete the clean sweep. On the other hand, India Women have lost yet another series at home but will want to finish on a high and avoid a whitewash. The third and final T20I of the series will take place on Sunday, 10th of December at the same venue. The game will commence at 7.00 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Charlie Dean is the Player of the Match for her brilliance with the ball. She took 2 for 16 from her four overs. She says she is mighty pleased by the overall performance of all the bowlers who supported her spell well. Feels that it is important to bowl the same ball again and again. She concludes by saying that her variations in pace and mixing up of deliveries is what gets her the wickets in T20's
England Women's skipper Heather Knight says that it was great for the fans and they felt there was a lot of pressure out in the middle. On Charlie Dean, she says that she allows them to have balance in the side and feels that their bowling group bowled well tonight. Reckons that it would have been hard for the openers to bat first and their strategy was to score as much as they could in the Powerplay without losing wickets. Ends by saying that they have a Test match coming up and want to win this series 3-0.
The captain of India Women, Harmanpreet Kaur says that she is extremely proud of her team and the way they fought back at the end. She adds up saying that another 30-40 runs on the board could have resulted differently. She then concludes by saying that the England bowlers bowled exceptionally well and points out that the Indian batters failed to read the lengths.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after being put into bat, India Women were off to a shaky start as their in-form batter, Shafali Verma departed for a two-ball duck. Having started on the wrong foot, it all went downhill for India Women from there as they kept losing wickets one after the other. None of the Indian batters showed application and simply surrendered themselves to the English bowling unit. Jemimah Rodrigues showed resistance but she kept running out of partners and in the end, her wicket ended the hopes of an Indian recovery. Charlie Dean starred with the ball with economical figures of 2 for 16.
As far as India Women are concerned, it was a game to forget for them. That said, their bowlers almost made a match out of this which should give them confidence in the games to come. With a small total to defend, India Women needed early wickets to stand a chance but the start with the ball in the first game, Renuka Singh bowled an expensive first over which did not allow her side to put the openers under pressure. She did fight back though, accounting for both openers in a single over. Pooja Vastrakar chipped in with a wicket as well before the spin twins Deepti Sharma and Saika Ishaque got into the act but India Women just did not have enough runs on the board.
England Women would have wanted to knock off these runs by losing fewer wickets than they eventually lost. In their pursuit of 81, the visitors were rocked early as they lost both openers in a single over. Alice Capsey and Natalie Sciver-Brunt then got together to calm the nerves in the dressing room. The duo played with a positive intent and made sure to punish loose deliveries. Neither of the two batters managed to see their side through and what followed was England Women making a bit of a mess of the chase. However, Capsey and Sciver-Brunt had got them close to the finishing line and Sophie Ecclestone and Heather Knight ensured there were no more hiccups in the chase.
England Women do it the hard way but they do get over the line and wrap the series with a game to go! There were a few nervy moments towards the end but Heather Knight and Co. have sealed the series and will now eye a clean sweep. On the other hand, India Women will have to be content with the fight shown by them with the ball. In hindsight, they would feel that had they managed to notch up a few more runs, the result would have been different.

That's it ! England Women seal the series with that boundary. Slightly tossed up delivery outside off, Sophie Ecclestone walks down and tries to go big only to edge the ball over the slip fielder for a boundary. England Women win by 4 wickets!

Drops it short, on middle, Sophie Ecclestone swivels and pulls it along the ground towards deep square leg where a slight fumble allows the batters to sneak in an extra run.

2 runs. Missed out on a Hat-trick! A great ball tossed up outside off, Sophie Ecclestone sweeps it only to get an inside edge towards the short fine leg region for a single.

OUT! LBW! Two in two for Deepti Sharma! Freya Kemp departs for a golden duck! Angles this one back into the left-hander, on middle, Freya Kemp prods forward and plays for the ball turning away. The ball goes straight with the angle and pings her on the front pad. Up goes the finger in an instant. Freya Kemp still takes the review. The UltraEdge shows that it is pad first and it is three reds on Ball Tracking. Deepti Sharma is on a hat-trick now.
Freya Kemp comes to bat.
