Social media floods determining Haris Rauf’s mystical spell with the courtesy of which Pakistan have levelled the seven-match T20I series against England by 2-2. The game almost looked impossible for the greens until the Lahore Qalandars’ product got the ball in hand to dispatch the second last over.
Rauf bagged two wickets to halt the opposition batters, or the game might have slipped from Babar Azam’s men’s hands. After a dot ball on the first ball of his last over, the bowler sustained a four from Liam Dawson, but it was Dawson to go on the very next ball instead of fielders running outside the circle to stop the ball.
Dawson was in no mood to spare the Pakistani bowlers and was getting match an inch closer on every next ball to the victory until Haris made sure to get rid of him. The lower-order batter added 34 from 17 balls. After his departure, Olly Stone joined Adil Rashid in need of five runs from nine balls, and the situation looked easier to chase further.
However, Haris made sure to execute what he had learnt from Qalandars’ camps – another wicket, another ball; this time, the pacer targetted the newcomer on a duck. The same runs were needed from the following eight balls; it was now in the hand of the bowler at the final over. But Haris gifted 1LB and, next, a wasted delivery to close his over, leaving four required from the final six balls.
Mohammad Wasim was in charge of the final over and handled the pressure effectively. After producing a dot ball, he went straight for Reece Topley’s wicket. All players could hear were the joyful cheers of the fans in the stadium. Here is what is happening on Twitter; certainly RAUF:
