In a thrilling announcement, Pakistan is set to host the upcoming Blind T20 Cricket World Cup, scheduled to take place from November 20 to December 3. The decision was finalized during the annual meeting of the World Blind Cricket Council held in Dubai, presided over by Syed Sultan Shah.
Excitement mounts as eight nations have already confirmed their participation in this prestigious event. Teams from New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh are all gearing up to showcase their talents on the global stage. However, Australia’s participation remains uncertain pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, in a move towards gender inclusivity, India has been awarded the honor of hosting the inaugural Women’s Blind T20 World Cup slated for December 2025. This decision marks a significant step forward in promoting diversity within the cricketing community.
During the meeting, amendments to blind cricket rules were approved, aimed at ensuring fair play and enhancing the overall quality of the game. These amendments are poised to refine the sport further and provide a level playing field for all participants.
Recent sporting events have already demonstrated the intensity and competitiveness of blind cricket. In a recent bilateral series between Pakistan and India held in Dubai, India emerged victorious with a 2-1 lead. Ajay Reddy’s stellar performance led India to an impressive eight-wicket triumph. Despite Pakistan’s efforts, including strategic changes in batting with the inclusion of Badar Munir, they fell short.
Pakistan posted a competitive total of 193-9 in their allotted 20 overs, with M Salman’s outstanding innings of 74 runs off 39 balls supported by M Rashid’s brisk 32 off 22 balls. However, India successfully chased down the target in just 18.4 overs, losing only two wickets in the process. Durga Rao and Venkatesh starred with the ball for India, claiming three and two wickets respectively.
