Two prominent figures in Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima, were involved in a minor car accident in Karachi on Friday evening. The incident occurred during a training camp for the upcoming home series against the West Indies Women.
Karachi, Pakistan’s second-most populous city, is known for its heavy traffic, raising initial concerns. However, according to a press release from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), both Maroof and Fatima are now in stable condition.
The PCB’s medical team provided immediate first aid to the players following the accident. Maroof, the former captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, and Fatima, a skilled 28-year-old leg-break bowler, are both undergoing further monitoring.
The press release further clarified, “The two players also underwent precautionary CT Scans, which came out clear.” This is a positive update for both players and the team as they gear up for the upcoming series.
Pakistan will host the West Indies Women for a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series, all scheduled to be played at the National Bank Cricket Arena (previously known as the National Stadium) in Karachi.
While the accident caused a temporary scare, the news of both players being in stable condition brings relief to fans and the cricketing community. The PCB’s swift response and medical support ensure the well-being of Maroof and Fatima remain a top priority. All eyes will now be on their speedy recovery and potential participation in the upcoming series against the West Indies Women.
