Afghanistan Cricket Team is bouncing with some new rhythm in their Asia Cup 2022 stint and looks like a team like never before. The well-polished bowling skills are visible as the bowlers collectively tremble the oppositions’ batters.
Mohammad Nabi and his men started their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against the hosts, Sri Lanka. At one stage, it looked like they would restrict Sri Lanka under 100, but with the courtesy of Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 38 off 29 and Chamika Karunaratne’s 31 off 38, they managed to reach 105 in 19.4 overs.
The batters showed tremendous efforts in the subsequent inning, chasing 106 in 10.1 overs and sparing eight men. The second encounter, ongoing versus Bangladesh, is homogenous either as the bowlers rock with terrific spells.
Bangladesh could only manage 127 runs in the match’s first inning as they chose to bat on winning the toss. Nabi’s bowler Mujeeb ur Rehman shacked the openers, not letting them enter the double-digit figure. Top order’s Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of the team, was also removed by him on a low score of 11.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan made sure to discard the entire middle order, including Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah. Mosaddek Hossain, who remained not out, contributed with 48 runs on 31 balls to drag the team to some decent-looking score rather than staying underdogs.
Shakib’s side could save three of the wickets and fell short of balls to surpass 127, which is now a piece of cake for Afghanistan’s lethal batters to stalk.
