The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to make history as the auction for the 2024 season is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19. This marks the league’s first-ever auction held overseas, adding a new dimension to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the event.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the mini-auction for IPL 2024 will be held in Dubai. This move is a departure from the tradition of conducting auctions within the country, showcasing the global reach and appeal of the IPL.

With 77 slots available to be filled, the 10 IPL teams collectively have a budget of Rs 262.95 crore. This auction will be the last mini-auction before the mega auction scheduled for the following year, adding an extra layer of significance to team strategies.
The auction promises to feature star players, including World Cup-winning Australian cricketers such as Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc. Notably, these players have set their base price at Rs 2 crore. New Zealand’s rising all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, who impressed in the World Cup 2023, is available at a base price of Rs 50 lakh.
