Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga has been appointed as the fast bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals for the 15h edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). The ex-cricketer made the news live through his social media on Friday.

Malinga retired from Test cricket in 2011 to focus more on his limited-over career and maintain his fitness. A decade later, he hung up his boots from all forms of cricket in September 2021. It was earlier assumed that the lethal bowler will step into coaching roles in the forthcoming games.

Undoubtedly, Malinga has been one of the deadliest pacers world cricket has ever produced. He was the threat for all the batters during his playtime and no batter adored to face him in any format. He has a claim to be men’s cricket’s greatest t20 bowler, will now teach others how to work on their pace to be a fast bowling superpower. Consequently, his inclusion in the Royals’ crew is a big boost for the pink franchise.

Rajasthan also welcomed the bowler in style. They took it to their Twitter to pen out that,

Notably, the IPL 2022 is set to kick-start from 26th March and will be played till 29th May across Maharashtra’s venues. This time, the cash-rich league will be more action-filled following the addition of two new IPL teams; Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.

The RR will play their first game on 29th March versus the Sun Risers Hyderabad at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
